Softball Preview: Northwood Panthers vs. Honaker Tigers
The Northwood Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Honaker Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Northwood has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Honaker will arrive with five straight wins.
Northwood lost 17-2 to Holston on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Honaker hadn't done well against Patrick Henry recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Rebels.
Not much got past Alyssa Wilson, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Patrick Henry off the board. Wilson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sophie Campbell was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadence Rose, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Northwood's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Honaker, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2.
