Basketball Recap: Crescent Comes Up Short

Crescent lost against Belton-Honea Path back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Crescent Tigers took a hard 74-59 fall against the Belton-Honea Path Bears. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (56), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Crescent lost, don't look at Jas'Yiah Davis. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Davis is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Philip Deveaux, who posted 17 points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Crescent smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

Crescent has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season. As for Belton-Honea Path, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Crescent Tigers challenge the Seneca Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Belton-Honea Path, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Pendleton at 7:30 p.m. Pendleton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.
