It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Brighton had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Northridge Knights. Winning may never get old, but the Bengals sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Miles Layton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Saba, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Fry, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.
Brighton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northridge only posted a batting average of .167.
