Baseball Game Preview: Natalia Mustangs vs. Hondo Owls

Natalia hasn't had much luck against Hondo recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Natalia will face off against Hondo at 7:00 p.m.

Natalia is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 4-3 to Dilley, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Andrew Arizola put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Arizola wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Leo Buentello, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Joe Yanes also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Meanwhile, Hondo entered their tilt with Lytle on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Pirates. The game was the first time the Owls have beaten the Pirates on their field since March 5, 2022.

Hondo's win bumped their record up to 10-4-1. As for Natalia, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

Natalia suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Hondo in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Natalia avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
