Mt. Vernon has gone 7-2 against Evansville Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Bears at 5:00 p.m. Evansville Central took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mt. Vernon, who comes in off a win.

Mt. Vernon came out on top against Forest Park on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Rangers 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since April 13, 2024.

Evansville Mater Dei hit Evansville Central with a four-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bears took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Evansville Central now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Mt. Vernon, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Mt. Vernon was able to grind out a solid win over Evansville Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 11-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
