Football Game Preview: Pittsburg Pirates vs. Freedom Falcons + How To Watch

Pittsburg has gone 8-2 against Freedom recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Pirates will head out to face off against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pittsburg has five straight wins, Freedom has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Pittsburg's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past Deer Valley to the tune of 51-0. Considering the Pirates have won three matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

A big part of Pittsburg's victory came down to the chemistry between Javale Jones and his top target Rolph (RJ) Mosley Jr.. Jones threw for 94 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes while Mosley Jr. picked up 143 receiving yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave Jones a new career-high in rushing yards (23). Xavier Fatu made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Pittsburg didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gregg Parker, Jr. and Fatu. Fatu got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Freedom's offense. They had to suffer through a 63-0 loss at the hands of Liberty. The game marked the first time this season in which the Falcons were not able to get on the board.

Freedom's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Pittsburg, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Everything came up roses for Pittsburg against Freedom in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 49-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
