Volleyball Recap: Woodruff Wolverines vs. Union County Yellowjackets
Woodruff was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Union County Yellowjackets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolverines of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.
Woodruff started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-23.
Their offense was headlined by Jolin Pettay and Jensyn Turner, who picked up 13 kills apiece. They got some help from Natalee Simmons and her 15 assists. Lily Greene controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Woodruff's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Union County, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
