Basketball Preview: East vs. John F. Kennedy Fighting Eagles
East are on the road again on Sunday and plays the John F. Kennedy Fighting Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on February 4th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, East lost to the Potters on the road by a decisive 78-62 margin. While losing is never fun, East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while the Potters are ranked 130th).
The losing side was boosted by Isaiah Mccray, who scored 32 points. That was a full 51.6% of East's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jared Colon was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Even though John F. Kennedy has not done well against the recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. John F. Kennedy blew past the 66-43. John F. Kennedy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 23 points or more this season.
East has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for John F. Kennedy, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
East beat the Fighting Eagles 88-76 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Will East repeat their success, or do the Fighting Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
