Baseball Recap: Ephrata's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

Ephrata was the 5-4 winner over Muhlenberg when they last played one another back in May of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. Ephrata fell just short of Muhlenberg by a score of 4-3 on Friday. The loss was the Mountaineers' first of the season.

Collin Miller was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 6 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Ethan Hunt was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing six bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season. Landry Weidner was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Ephrata fell to 4-1. As for Muhlenberg, their record is now 3-1.

Looking ahead, Ephrata will head out on the road to face off against J.P. McCaskey at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Muhlenberg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Reading at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
