Recap: Valor Preparatory Academy Knights vs. Morgan Eagles
On Friday, Valor Preparatory Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Morgan, taking the game 42-31. The squad ran away with 30 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.
Valor Preparatory Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elyse Mason led the charge by scoring 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Buck, who scored ten points.
Morgan's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Briseyda Romo, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her.
Valor Preparatory Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-5. As for Morgan, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valor Preparatory Academy will challenge Methodist Children's Home at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Morgan, they will head out on the road to face off against Walnut Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Walnut Springs will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
