After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rampart, Doherty was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Liberty Lancers. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won five in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-12, 19-25, 25-21.

Brenna Moerman paced Doherty's offense, picking up 26 kills. Moerman got some help from Makari Cooper and her 20 assists. Valyn Fox controlled things from the service line, finishing with seven aces.

Doherty's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Liberty, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Doherty and Liberty could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. The Spartans (ranked 119th) will meet Pueblo West (ranked 14th) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Liberty will square off against Pine Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (204 vs. 23).
