Recap: Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans vs. Chattahoochee Cougars
There's no place like home for The Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 41-38 victory over Chattahoochee on Friday. Given Greater Atlanta Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Chattahoochee is ranked 262nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gianlucca "gl" Tiberia was his usual excellent self, rushing for 152 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Tiberia has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last five times he's played.
Chattahoochee's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Priester, who threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns. Priester hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Avery, who gained 105 total yards and three touchdowns.
Greater Atlanta Christian's win was their fourth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.0 points per game. As for Chattahoochee, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greater Atlanta Christian will take on Centennial at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Chattahoochee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kell is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.
