Basketball Recap: Westfair Christian Starts Season with Win at Home

Westfair Christian took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They strolled past the Maranatha Christian Academy Huskies with points to spare, taking the game 56-41.

Westfair Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Michael Bordean out in front who went 9-for-14 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Matthias Beavers, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 14 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Maranatha Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Westfair Christian is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Varsity Opponent at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Maranatha Christian Academy, they will take on Berean Christian in a tournament on Thursday.
