Basketball Game Preview: Mentor Cardinals vs. Medina Battling Bees

The Mentor Cardinals will face off against the Medina Battling Bees at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mentor knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Medina likes a good challenge.

Mentor came up short against Brunswick on Friday, falling 85-65.

Despite the defeat, Mentor saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jack Kennedy went 8 for 13 on his way to 21 points in addition to five assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kennedy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Sierputowski, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 11 points.

Meanwhile, Medina came up short against Warrensville Heights on Saturday and fell 56-47. While losing is never fun, the Battling Bees can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Tigers are ranked 16th).

Medina's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Mentor, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-4.
