Preview: West Lincoln Rebels vs. Cherryville Ironmen
West Lincoln is 9-1 against Cherryville since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The West Lincoln Rebels will look to defend their home court against the Cherryville Ironmen at 6:00 p.m. West Lincoln comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Tuesday, West Lincoln ended up a good deal behind Foard and lost 60-43.
Meanwhile, Cherryville took their contest at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 66-12 win over NCSSM: Morganton. With that win, Cherryville brought their scoring average up to 56.5 points per game.
Among those leading the charge was Krista Davis, who scored 19 points along with 7 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Cherryville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Raylei Gidney, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 14 rebounds.
East Lincoln's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while West Lincoln's loss dropped theirs to 0-2.
Everything came up roses for West Lincoln against Cherryville in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 59-31 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Cherryville's Gabbie McCorkle, who scored 16 points. Now that she won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for West Lincoln to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
