Preview: Antelope Rams vs. Anthem Prep Eagles
Antelope has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Anthem Prep Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Antelope scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 112-41 win over San Pasqual Valley. That looming 112-41 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Antelope yet this season.
Antelope's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alizay Figueroa, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Figueroa pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Caleb Martinez, who scored 19 points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Anthem Prep waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They breezed by North Phoenix Preparatory Academy at home to the tune of 67-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Anthem Prep has posted since December 16, 2023.
Anthem Prep found their leader in underclassman Cole Schirm, who scored 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rithik Kolli, who scored 11 points.
Antelope is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Anthem Prep, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Antelope suffered a grim 66-41 defeat to Anthem Prep when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Antelope avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
