Football Recap: Martin County Piles Up the Points Against Sebastian River

It's playoff time, and Martin County had no trouble coming through when it counted. They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat the Sebastian River Sharks 33-6. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Martin County had a senior duo take command as Calista Scornavacca threw for 131 yards and four touchdowns while completing 92.6% of her passes and Delaney Gribben picked up 47 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Martin County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Gribben led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by herself. She got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win was the fourth in a row for Martin County, bringing their record up to 13-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 1.5 points on average over those games. As for Sebastian River, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Looking ahead, Martin County will challenge South Fork at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Tigers 6.5, the Bulldogs 5.5) so any points scored will be well earned. Sebastian River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
