Recap: Herriman Mustangs vs. Westlake Thunder

There's no place like home for the Herriman Mustangs, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They snuck past Westlake with a 83-77 victory on Friday. Given Herriman's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Westlake is ranked 51st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ike Palmer was his usual excellent self, scoring 39 points. The game was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlo Mulford, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and three steals.

Herriman's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Westlake, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Herriman will take on Mountain Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Ridge is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Westlake, they will be playing at home against Skyridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
