Volleyball Recap: Oak Ridge War Eagles vs. Tomball Cougars
With a playoff game on the line, Oak Ridge rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against the Tomball Cougars by a score of 3-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the War Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2016.
Oak Ridge was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 18-25, 25-20, 25-18.
Despite the defeat, Tomball saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gemma Hopkins had 19 digs and two aces. Hopkins is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last nine games she's played.
The victory made it two in a row for Oak Ridge and bumps their season record up to 35-11. As for Tomball, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-20.
Oak Ridge will square off against Royse City on Monday. Oak Ridge is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Tomball does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
