Softball Game Preview: Ridgemont Golden Gophers vs. McComb Panthers

The Ridgemont Golden Gophers will square off against the McComb Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Ridgemont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Ridgemont took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Crestline 14-3. The Golden Gophers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Ridgemont got a massive performance out of Riley Hites, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Hites has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Shreve, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, McComb was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-9 heartbreaker at the hands of Kenton.

Hailey Ebright was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Ridgemont's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for McComb, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
