Recap: Waldport Irish vs. Willamina Bulldogs
The Waldport Irish lost against the Willamina Bulldogs back in December of 2018, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Waldport took a 42-25 bruising from Willamina. While losing is never fun, Waldport can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Willamina is ranked 21st).
Willamina's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hadley Hughes, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Terbush, who scored seven points.
Waldport now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Willamina, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waldport will take on Myrtle Point at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Myrtle Point's defense has only allowed 23.5 points per game this season, so Waldport's offense will have their work cut out for Waldport. As for Willamina, they will head out on the road to face off against Harrisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
