Volleyball Recap: Mountain Brook's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Mountain Brook waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Austin Black Bears. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Black Bears, too.

Mountain Brook's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sullivan Lell led the charge by getting 14 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Lell has posted over her last seven contests. Lucy Comer also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Despite the loss, Austin saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cora Barnes had 17 digs and two aces. Those 17 digs set a new season-high mark for Barnes.

Mountain Brook now has a winning record of 17-16. As for Austin, their defeat dropped their record down to 34-6.

Mountain Brook has already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Daphne on the 4th. As for Austin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Hewitt-Trussville on the 4th.
