Coolidge took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Apache Junction, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bears won by a run and slipped past the Prospectors 6-5. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bears as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Andrew Ashcraft was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Adam Carreon, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Coolidge's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-9. As for Apache Junction, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coolidge will welcome Tanque Verde at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Apache Junction, they will host Valley Christian at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
