The Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles are headed away from home for the first time to face off against the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Gray Collegiate Academy will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Socastee on Friday. Gray Collegiate Academy put the hurt on Socastee with a sharp 11-1 win.

Zeb Taylor looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, JP Sweatt and Judson Decell did most of the damage at the plate: Sweatt scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Decell scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Decell a new career-high in RBI (three). Zak Perry was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
Gray Collegiate Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Socastee only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Fort Mill got themselves on the board against Waccamaw on Friday, but Waccamaw never followed suit. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Warriors.
Fort Mill also got a great performance from Alex Carreiro as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Furthermore, Carreiro didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Cooper Diehl was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Fort Mill's record is now 2-0. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Gray Collegiate Academy couldn't quite finish off Fort Mill when the teams last played back in March of 2023 and fell 3-1. Can Gray Collegiate Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
