Softball Game Preview: Farmville Central Jaguars vs. South Granville Vikings

The Farmville Central Jaguars will challenge the South Granville Vikings on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Farmville Central sitting on six straight wins and South Granville on nine.

Farmville Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They skirted past Bunn 3-2.

Corri Houston spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Farmville Central's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Callie Mitchell, who went 3-for-4 with one run. That's the most hits Mitchell has posted since back in April.

Meanwhile, South Granville narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Washington 4-3.

South Granville pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Farmville Central, their victory bumped their record up to 18-4.

Farmville Central might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from South Granville in their previous meeting back in May of 2016. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
