Recap: Cumberland Clippers vs. Barrington Eagles
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Cumberland Clippers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 28-21 to Barrington on Saturday. Cumberland's loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak dating back to last season.
Cumberland's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Evan Spencer, who rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 125 yards and a touchdown. Andrew Ray also helped out as he racked up 147 rushing yards.
Cumberland's loss dropped their record down to 10-1. As for Barrington, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cumberland will take on Woonsocket at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Woonsocket is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Barrington, they will be playing at home against Mt. Hope at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Mt. Hope will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Rhode Island Rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Barrington is ranked second).
