After a string of eight wins, St. Pius X Catholic's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Marist War Eagles by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to St. Pius X Catholic of the 2-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

St. Pius X Catholic's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 10-6. As for Marist, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3.

St. Pius X Catholic will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Decatur at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th. As for Marist, they will square off against Lovett at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
