Basketball Recap: Kennedy Takes a Loss

Kennedy played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Jefferson Academy Jaguars, falling 84-55. The Commanders just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Several Commanders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anthony Zink, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Zink's afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Xavier Agosto was another key player, going 5 for 10 on his way to 10 points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Kennedy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Jefferson Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josh Neely, who almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine assists. The dominant performance gave Neely a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimeto Orji, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 boards.

Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Jefferson Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Kennedy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 50-31 loss against Conifer on the 21st. As for Jefferson Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-27 victory against Skyview on the 21st.
