Preview: Shady Spring Tigers vs. Nicholas County Grizzlies
Shady Spring is on a four-game streak of home losses, the Grizzlies a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Shady Spring Tigers will take on the Nicholas County Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
While Shady Spring couldn't quite beat the Patriots on Tuesday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 23-point defeat they were dealt on Thursday. Shady Spring fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 31-28.
Despite their loss, Shady Spring saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kendall Lilly, who scored seven points along with two steals and two blocks, was perhaps the best of all. It was the first time this season that Lilly posted two or more blocks. Megan Hendrick was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Nicholas County ended up a good deal behind the Panthers on Friday and lost 52-35.
Shady Spring's defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Nicholas County, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.
Shady Spring ended up a good deal behind the Grizzlies when the teams last played back in November of 2023, losing 50-35. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Nicholas County's Adrienne Truman, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Now that Shady Spring knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
