Basketball Recap: James River Midlothian Takes a Loss

After flying high against Phoebus two weeks ago, James River Midlothian came back down to earth. The James River Midlothian Rapids were dealt a 67-33 defeat at the hands of the L.C. Bird Skyhawks on Thursday. The Rapids were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-13.

Sasha Hodge was a one-woman wrecking crew for L.C. Bird as she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 steals. Hodge is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kamari Simon, who went 8 of 15 en route to 17 points and eight rebounds.

James River Midlothian's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for L.C. Bird, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

James River Midlothian will welcome Midlothian at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for L.C. Bird, they will venture away from home to take on Powhatan at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. L.C. Bird is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season.
