Basketball Recap: Northeast Guilford Rams vs. Ashbrook Greenwave
Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Northeast Guilford couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost to the Ashbrook Greenwave on the road by a 79-60 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Greenwave are ranked 26th).
Issac Byers Jr. continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ashbrook, shooting 50% from the field en route to 27 points and five assists. What's more, Byers Jr. also posted a 56% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Jamarion Patton was another key player, going 7-for-10 to rack up 14 points and five rebounds.
Northeast Guilford's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Ashbrook, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 25-3.
Northeast Guilford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ashbrook, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 65-44 victory against Central Davidson on the 4th.
