Softball Recap: Wooster Takes a Loss

Wooster had lost seven straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-18 to make it eight. They lost 12-2 to the New Philadelphia Quakers. The Generals were not able to make up for their defeat to the Quakers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Emily Boyd was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

As for New Philadelphia, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The result was nothing new for New Philadelphia, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

On New Philadelphia's side, Jillian Howard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Howard has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellie Mason, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Easton Miller was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

While Wooster had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
