Preview: West Lincoln Rebels vs. East Burke Cavaliers
West Lincoln is on a three-game streak of home wins, while East Burke is on a 19-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The West Lincoln Rebels will take on the East Burke Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, West Lincoln didn't have too much trouble with West Caldwell at home as they won 52-33.
In what's become a running theme this season, East Burke gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They breezed by Lincolnton at home to the tune of 71-25. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-10.
It was another big night for Braelyn Stilwell, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 steals. Stilwell is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kara Brinkley was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
West Lincoln has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. As for East Burke, their victory bumped their record up to 14-0.
West Lincoln might still be hurting after the 55-31 defeat they got from East Burke when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for West Lincoln, Taylor Bostain (who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
