Basketball Game Preview: Pleasant Ridge Rams vs. Maranatha Christian Academy Eagles

The Pleasant Ridge Rams will be taking part in a tournament against the Maranatha Christian Academy Eagles at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Pleasant Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season.

Pleasant Ridge is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 61 points on Friday, they were much more limited against Maur Hill Prep-Mount Academy on Monday. They were beaten by the Ravens 68-21. The contest marked the Rams' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Wyatt Wilburn put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted ten points. Isaiah Kime also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Meanwhile, Maranatha Christian Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 55-51 to Horton. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Chargers are ranked 116th).

This is the second loss in a row for Pleasant Ridge and nudges their season record down to 4-5. As for Maranatha Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Pleasant Ridge came up short against Maranatha Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 56-45. Can Pleasant Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
