Softball Recap: Jones Comes Up Short

Jones came into this matchup off a tough 13-run defeat last Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Hobgood Charter Raiders by a score of 7-5 on Friday. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Payten Plyler put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Jones now has a losing record of 1-2.

Jones wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 11-1 victory against Liberty Christian Academy on the 13th. As for Hobgood Charter, they have also already played their next game, a 7-2 win against North East Carolina Prep on the 13th.
