Baseball Game Preview: Scott County Cardinals vs. Henry Clay Blue Devils

Scott County and Henry Clay are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Cardinals will welcome the Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Scott County has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While Scott County's win against Paul Laurence Dunbar wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cardinals had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 2-1 on Monday. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Evan Allen tossed a big game, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, Scott County's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Seth Jean, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Jean a new career-high.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Henry Clay and Woodford County, and Henry Clay kept the tradition alive. The Blue Devils walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Yellowjackets on Friday.

Henry Clay is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Scott County, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.
