Basketball Game Preview: Carver Vo-Tech Bears vs. National Academy Foundation Eagles

The Carver Vo-Tech Bears will face off against the National Academy Foundation Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Carver Vo-Tech's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while National Academy Foundation has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Last Friday, Carver Vo-Tech came up short against Springdale Prep and fell 71-60. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Lions are ranked 22nd).

Despite the loss, Carver Vo-Tech got top-tier performance from David Ross, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Ross is becoming a predictor of Carver Vo-Tech's success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 10-5 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiden Matthews, who went 5 for 11 to rack up 12 points.

Meanwhile, National Academy Foundation played a tough matchup on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 68-26 loss at the hands of Chesapeake. The Eagles were down 50-19 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Carver Vo-Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for National Academy Foundation, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.

Everything came up roses for Carver Vo-Tech against National Academy Foundation in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 74-3 win.
