Softball Recap: Salinas Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

After losing to Monterey the last time they met, Salinas decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cowboys came out on top against the Dores on Wednesday by a score of 2-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cowboys have posted since April 25th.

Abi Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Salinas saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Salinas is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Monterey, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 19-4-1.

As of now, neither Salinas nor the Dores have any future games scheduled.
