The Old Town Coyotes will square off against the Hermon Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Old Town 3.2, Hermon 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Old Town fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Mount Desert Island on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 3-2. The loss was the Coyotes' first of the season.

Old Town saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Closson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. Closson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Jackson Brawn also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Hermon hadn't done well against Mount Desert Island recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Hawks walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Trojans. The game was the first time the Hawks have beaten the Trojans on their field since April 23, 2019.
Maddox Kinney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kinney was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Edgar Leclerc was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Cam Morrison was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Hermon now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Old Town, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Old Town has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hermon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Old Town was able to grind out a solid win over Hermon when the teams last played on Tuesday, winning 4-1. Will the Coyotes repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
