League recap: Willis breaks off league-leading run for Pymatuning Valley

Pymatuning Valley's JT Willis rumbled for the longest rushing play in Northeastern Athletic this season in his game against Conneaut last week. Willis ran for 81 yards on the play and finished with 166 on the day as his team defeated the Spartans.

Mathews moved up to 669 from 718 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 84-12 win over the Mustangs helped the Mustangs improve their standing.

Pymatuning Valley's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Quintin Ratliff threw for 10 yards and Tim Cross had 10 yards receiving.

Pymatuning Valley's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Lakers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Ratliff has thrown for 414 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Cross has 23 catches for 282 yards. Willis leads the league in rushing with 334 yards.

Two of the top units in Northeastern Athletic will face off this week when Neal Croston's team takes on Mathews. The Lakers' offense has racked up 77 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Mike Palumbo's team has allowed only 218 on the year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Chalker takes on Ledgemont. At the moment, the Wildcats are in second, while the Redskins are in fifth.
