Baseball Recap: Nipomo Takes a Loss

Nipomo was the 7-6 winner over Santa Ynez when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Titans fell 9-5 to the Pirates on Tuesday. The Titans' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Nipomo got a good showing from Jayden Lanier, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Lanier has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Logan Hobbs made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Nipomo is 5-2 when Hobbs posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise.

Nipomo's record now sits at 8-12. As for Santa Ynez, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

While Nipomo had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
