The Christ the King Crusaders will venture away from home to challenge the Corvian Community Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Christ the King will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Pine Lake Prep, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. The Crusaders breezed past the Pride to the tune of 41-13 on Friday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-0.
Christ the King's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carter Stevens led the charge by picking up 103 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in one rushing score. Stevens got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 80 yards. Brennen Wallace was another key back, rushing for 168 yards while picking up 10.5 yards per carry.
Christ the King didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Pine Lake Prep to a completion percentage of just 35.3%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Brady Noonan and Noah Lorenzo, who each logged one passes deflected. Christ the King hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.33 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Corvian Community came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 29-28 W against the Spartans.
Corvian Community found their leader in freshman Tyson Douglas-Brown, who threw for 215 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 73.7% of his passes, and also punched in one rushing score.
Christ the King's record is now 6-2. As for Corvian Community, their record now sits at 7-1.
Christ the King came up short against Corvian Community in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, falling 16-7. Thankfully for the Crusaders, Cam Johnson (who rushed for 138 yards and one score, and also picked up 64 receiving yards and one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
