Basketball Game Preview: Socastee Braves vs. Bishop O'Connell Knights

The Socastee Braves and the Bishop O'Connell Knights will round out the year against one another at at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Socastee is headed into Friday's game hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. The matchup between them and Oceanside Collegiate Academy didn't end well, with Socastee falling 55-36. The contest marked the Braves' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Loss or not, Socastee got some senior leadership from Bryson Sams and Joshua Brown. Sams went 7 for 12 on his way to 20 points, while Brown posted 13 points and six boards.

On Friday fans watched as two of the best teams in the nation hit the court. Bishop O'Connell walked away with a 56-49 victory over DeMatha.

Bishop O'Connell's win came from a few key players Socastee will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Justin Edwards, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Wyatt Norton was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Bishop O'Connell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Socastee's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Bishop O'Connell, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
