It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Boaz ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Sardis Lions 11-10. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won three in a row.

Cooper Whorton was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in runs (two).

Whorton wasn't the only one making solid contact: Boaz kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Boaz's record is now 21-8. As for Sardis, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-5.

Boaz will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
