Baseball Recap: Shady Side Academy Gets the Win

Shady Side Academy proved they can win big on Friday (they won by nine) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Burrell Bucs 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Bucs: they've now won four in a row.

Soren Cooper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up six Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Shady Side Academy's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 4-12 when he doesn't).

Shady Side Academy pushed their record up to 7-12 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Burrell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-8.

Shady Side Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Burrell, they will challenge Highlands at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bucs are facing the Golden Rams at the right time seeing as the Golden Rams are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
