Preview: Albemarle School Colts vs. Lawrence Academy Warriors
Albemarle School and Lawrence Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Albemarle School Colts will head out on the road to square off against the Lawrence Academy Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Albemarle School comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Albemarle School suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Thursday. They were the victim of a tough 71-46 loss at the hands of Eastern Christian HomeSchool. Albemarle School has struggled against Eastern Christian HomeSchool recently, as their match on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Albemarle School saw an underclassman step up: Brayden Lowry scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Lowry scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Javonte Borg, who scored 12 points.
Lawrence Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell to Pungo Christian Academy 62-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Albemarle School's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-15. As for Lawrence Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
Albemarle School was dealt a bruising 73-31 loss at the hands of Lawrence Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Albemarle School was down 50-14.
