Baseball Game Preview: Hobgood Charter Raiders vs. Columbia Wildcats

For the second straight game, Hobgood Charter will face off against Columbia. The Raiders will face off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hobgood Charter's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.

Hobgood Charter took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over Columbia. The win was some much needed relief for the Raiders as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

LUKE LANIER spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Hobgood Charter's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on PARKER CALE, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. LANDON DAVIS also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Columbia has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Hobgood Charter, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-3.
