Soccer Game Preview: Parkland vs. El Dorado

The Parkland Matadors will venture away from home to challenge the El Dorado Aztecs at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Parkland has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while El Dorado will come in with three straight wins.

Parkland managed to keep up with Del Valle until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Parkland lost 5-0 to Del Valle.

Meanwhile, El Dorado won against Bel Air on Saturday with two goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Wednesday. El Dorado sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Horizon. Given the Aztecs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Scorpions are ranked 358th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

El Dorado pushed their record up to 7-3-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those four contests. As for Parkland, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4-1.

Parkland suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to El Dorado when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can Parkland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
