Basketball Game Preview: Carvers Bay Bears vs. Hannah-Pamplico Raiders

The Carvers Bay Bears will challenge the Hannah-Pamplico Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Hannah-Pamplico will be up against a hot Carvers Bay squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Carvers Bay took down Green Sea Floyds 58-44 on Tuesday.

Carvers Bay relied on the efforts of Kenard Heyward, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds, and Mekhi Bromell, who posted nine points in addition to six boards and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Heyward has scored at least a third of Carvers Bay's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamie Graham, who put up six points.

Carvers Bay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Hannah-Pamplico beat Johnsonville 59-55 on Monday.

Carvers Bay better focus on containing Tylin Jenkins and Dakhi Thomas as the pair were huge in Hannah-Pamplico's win. Jenkins dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 boards, while Thomas went 9 of 15 en route to 18 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Jenkins a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Leroy Williams, who had six points.

Carvers Bay has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Hannah-Pamplico, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
