Soccer Recap: Martin Comes Up Short

Martin might've scored the first goal on Monday, but it was Lamar who claimed the real prize. The Martin Warriors fell just short of the Lamar Vikings by a score of 3-2. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Martin's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Lamar, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-1 record this season.

Martin and Lamar should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Martin (ranked 104th) will meet Grand Prairie (ranked 446th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Lamar will face off against South Grand Prairie at 6:00 p.m. on February 25th up 207 places (144 vs. 351).
